300 km for LIFE Challenge: it's a go

Date

May 12, 2025

On Tuesday, May 6, André Malacket, General Manager of the Foundation, kicked off the 18th edition of the 300 km for LIFE bicycle rally.

Now in its eighteenth year, this fund-raising event brings together some 180 cyclists for a Laval-Trois-Rivières circuit, rain or shine, to benefit the Laval cancer program. The convoy departs from the Centre Intégré de Cancérologie de Laval (CICL) in Cité-de-la-Santé.

Lise Parent, a volunteer and CISSS employee, celebrated her eight years' involvement in the event. Lynda Bouchard, founder of the rally, also gave a moving speech, recalling the beginnings of this great adventure when the CICL had not yet been founded.

Initiated in 2006 by cancer survivor Lynda Bouchard and developed by the Cité de la Santé Foundation, this charity event to benefit Laval's cancer program has achieved a number of milestones to date:

- Enhanced endoscopy equipment. These include the addition of three new rhinolaryngoscopes to maintain disinfection standards, reduce management time and increase equipment availability.

- The purchase of two anesthesia machines to enable us to operate on as many patients as possible. There are almost 1,500 oncology surgeries per year.

- Yoga classes, the Activie program and physiotherapy follow-up for 15 patients in remission from cancer.
