A mural for the vascular laboratory

Date

June 15, 2023

Sometimes all it takes is small gestures... The Foundation financed this mural ($1,200), thanks to your donations, to the vascular laboratory of the Cité-de-la-Santé. Here are Karline Damas, Lucie Meyer and Joanne Sarrasin, who were happy to tell us about the impact of this mural on the well-being of patients during their treatments. In this room, they carry out the Peripheral Vascular Evaluation (PVE) or arterial Doppler. This makes it possible to assess the blood circulation at the level of the arteries by using a small probe in the form of a pencil and by applying an ultrasound gel to the skin to study the pulsation and armbands to measure the systolic pressure on the legs and arms.

Clients with walking pain (claudication) should walk on a treadmill to assess symptoms, determine the objective presence of arterial claudication, and determine exercise tolerance. Before YOUR DONATIONS, they had to walk on a treadmill facing a white wall. This applied decoration, developed in consultation with the medical profession, is a real tool to motivate and encourage the user to walk longer on the treadmill and allow a conclusive examination. His attention is thus focused on something other than the discomfort felt or the examination he is undergoing.

THANK YOU!
