The fifth annual Jonathan Huberdeau Golf Tournament, organized by the Cité de la Santé Foundation, brought together 288 golfers and raised $365,000 for the renovation of the orthopedic department at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé. In total, more than $1,620,000 has been raised thanks to Jonathan Huberdeau’s involvement over the past five years.
A Cause Rooted in His Personal History
The Calgary Flames forward in the National Hockey League clearly illustrated how important the project is to him.
“This annual event is always close to my heart, but especially this year, because of my personal history. I recently underwent hip surgery to treat pain, and I can say that orthopedics has given me back my quality of life. I hope to do the same for the people of Laval. I’m proud to be able to give back to my hometown and to see the commitment of everyone who is rallying behind this cause.” — Jonathan Huberdeau – Golf Tournament Ambassador
Orthopedics in Laval: A Rapidly Growing Field
Each year, the team of 10 orthopedic surgeons at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé performs nearly 2,500 knee, hip, and shoulder surgeries, in addition to orthopedic trauma care and the treatment of sports injuries.
The funds raised will help, in particular, to renovate the musculoskeletal clinic so it can accommodate more patients and remain at the cutting edge of this constantly evolving field.
“After five editions and more than $1.6 million raised with Jonathan, we can see firsthand how our community’s generosity is transforming the care provided to Laval residents. At the Foundation, we are convinced that everyone’s contribution can make a real difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones.” — André Malacket, Executive Director of the Cité de la Santé Foundation
