300 km for LIFE: A story of love, courage and resilience

The 17th edition of the 300 km for LIFE Bike Challenge, an event organized by the Cité de la Santé Foundation, presented by GUIMOND Construction and Desjardins, in collaboration with Subaru de Laval, was once again a success: a net sum of $388,500 was raised for the Laval Cancer Program.

165 cyclists rode 325 km round trip from Laval to Trois-Rivières on September 7 and 8. Despite the cold and headwinds on Sunday, the cyclists rose to the challenge with flying colors. When they arrived on Sunday, over 800 people were waiting for them in front of the Centre Intégré de Cancérologie de Laval, at the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital. The emotion was palpable, as many of the participants were close to cancer sufferers or had been through the ordeal themselves. One of the cyclists had completed his treatment less than three months earlier, and was determined to take up the challenge, as if to thumb his nose at the disease.

"We are truly impressed, once again this year, by all the positive and humanistic energy that emanates from the 300 km for LIFE! This flagship event for the Foundation fills our hearts with pride and emotion every year. We'd like to thank all the participants, partners, donors and volunteers who made this success possible. Congratulations to all!" says André Malacket, Executive Director of the Cité de la Santé Foundation.

The money raised will help finance the acquisition of cutting-edge medical equipment, offer increasingly innovative services to patients treated at the Centre intégré de cancérologie de Laval, and contribute to clinical research projects carried out at the CISSS de Laval, which literally save lives every year.
